Age of Innocence

The Knickerbocker Club
New York City

Thanks to you, we will always remember our wedding as simply perfect. It all appeared effortless and seamless, though I know that was the result of Herculean efforts on the part of you and your team. Just as important, you made the process fun throughout. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

We incorporated the existing furnishings, décor, flow and style of this beautiful club into the look of this wedding. The effect is a seamless party that feels custom made for their event.

A venerable private club with a sunlit terrace overlooking Central Park set the stage for this classic wedding. The peony-filled bouquet mirrored the ruffles on the bride’s dressing. Simply stunning.

Bridesmaids wore Wedding Library gowns and held full-blown pink peony bouquets

The drawing room held the ceremony.

We anticipated the late afternoon light streaming in behind the couple so a clean white scrim was erected. Every last detail was in place.

I sourced black grosgrain ribbon for the programs, we finished them off with my signature simple tie. My favorite old Checker cab was hired to sit in front of the club. After the ceremony it was there to whisk the couple off for pictures.

NYC eating clubs feel like magnificent turn-of-the-century homes. This foyer table welcomed guests in a grand manner. A classic Wedding Library gilt-edged guest book, personalized and paired with my preferred ink pens.

We hired a sushi chef to add a little “modern” cuisine to the mix. However, the caviar and crème fraiche were the perfect complement to a glass of vintage champagne!

This urban oasis is right on Fifth Avenue, just above the hustle and bustle of the street below. These sharp little cocktail tables have custom “caps” so that the linens don’t blow off in a breeze. I adore these soft, creamy white roses.

French tulips cascade over the neat escort cards. The simpler the display, the more care is required to have it look perfect.

The tall, branchy arrangements fill the room while leaving “breathing” space below for guests to chat across the tables.

Although this wedding was understated, it was anything but simple. Every detail was attended to, down to the powder room hand towels and the embossed cocktail napkins. Our signature menu card doubles as a place card with the guest’s name hand lettered at the top. I take care to always have lovely table numbers as they provide a finishing touch to a gorgeous table.

The stunning cake has white sugar peonies and the wedding’s black ribbon ties made in fondant on every layer.

As the bride is a newly minted author, I suggested that a book about New York might be a suitable favor. One of her favorites was given to every guest.

As night fell and the dancing began, our terrace became a twinkly, romantic space, magically appearing to be a part of Central Park.
